Integrated scanning

Introduction #

Silicon ioi has an integrated scanning mode for all ioi application modules. This scanning mode is ideal for operators with desktop or tablet environments to facilitate encoding. Scanning is not available for low-level or system modules.

Activation for a module #

To activate this mode :

• Go to the module configuration module ioi Module,
• Choose the module where you wish to activate this mode (for example, ioi Sales Delivery),
• Scan mode is activated from this window:

• Now the scanning zone appears in the module:

Persistence of encoding focus on scan zone #

When you use this field, the system interprets the changeover to scanning mode. As soon as it is activated, the focus (cursor) is automatically repositioned in the scanning zone after each processing operation, so that a new scan can be performed.

To disable this behavior, simply uncheck the zone. The encoding focus will be free again.

Error if scan not found #

If your scan is not understood by the system, a message appears just below the zone.

Access to your device’s camera #

Your smartphone/tablet camera can be used for scanning. To do so, the “browser” will ask you for authorization.

The system will automatically adapt to the size of your screen so that the scanning zone continues to appear, even on small screens such as smartphone screens.

Advanced behavior settings #

It’s possible to ask the system to provide the ability to focus on the grid. To do this, you need to define :

• To which “tab” the composition grid belongs,
• Which grid component to consider,
• Which fields are essential for scanning.

From the ioi Module, select the desired module. The information will then be available to you:

• You now have a box to focus on details in the module in question:

• Check the box and all other elements disappear to focus the page on the detail:

ioi Scanning module parameters #

From the ioi Scanning Parameters module, you can configure scanning.

• Create a configuration for the module to be considered,
• Add a configuration and choose the Doctype module for which you want a scanning configuration,
• Here we’ll take the example of the ioi Sales Delivery delivery notes.

Module selection #

The initials are used (via scan) to focus on this module from the Workspace.

Number detail areas #

• Choose the detail areas in your document where scanning will be possible,
• Give them a detail order number.

Configure barcode prefixes #

These prefixes are used to fill in fields corresponding to a key in another doctype’s data.

Configure scan actions without prefixes. #

There are two types of barcode:

• Barcodes without content specification,
• barcodes with a prefix that tells you what the content is.

Barcodes with a specific prefix #

The barcode is made up of :

• A prefix recognition character: $,
• A part which is the prefix determining the data type;
• The content of the data.

Coding = $PPDDDDD :

• $ the recognition character,
• PP the prefix,
• DDDD the data. In the case of a composite key, the different parts must be separated by the / character.

In the parameter table, you have the following definition points:

• Prefix: this is the prefix definition,
• Reference doctype: the doctype (module), to check that the value exists,
• Destination field: where to place the value found after the scan.

Example:

here we’ve defined barcodes with prefixes as follows:

• $DCXXXXX: used to verify the existence of the customer and place it in the delivery customer ID,
• $WH: allows you to specify the picking warehouse,
• $WL: allows you to specify the picking location.

From the Sales and Delivery module:

• Create a new document,
• Scan from $DCAMTELEC.

The fields complete each other:

Barcodes without prefix #

These are general barcodes, such as item, batch and serial numbers.

You currently have two options:

• Either find an article,
• either find a lot number or a serial number.

Then you specify in which fields the scan result should arrive:

From the ioi Ventes livraison module:

• Scan WHUB-RE-M2-ALU-SLV (item identification) and fill in the details,
• Scan of TUALUD607076T6, i.e. item barcode: TU-ALU-D60-7076-T6.

Item scan, Item parameters #

Depending on the barcodes defined, you can associate a quantity with them. If the quantity is not defined (0), the quantity of 1 will be used.

Refuse document merge #

You can refuse to merge a scanned item into a quantity with this parameter :

Scan article, line filling rules #

Here’s the process:

• The system checks that the item is active,

• Then it checks that the document is in Preparation (0) status,

• It then checks, in the article, what the rule is if an article already exists,

• And finally, the system searches the document to see if this article is mentioned:

  • For a line found, if the quantity in the line has not reached the Quantity ordered or the Quantity to prepare (the Quantity to prepare mode must be active), the system completes the Quantity to deliver, either +1 by default, or +N (N being the quantity to present according to the scan defined in the article).
  • For a line not found, if not in Quantity to prepare mode, the system adds a line with quantity 1.

Example: with articles.

From the ioi Sales Delivery module:

• Scan WHUB-RE-M2-ALU-SLV (item identification) and fill in the details,
• Scan of TUALUD607076T6-B12, the barcode of an item box: TU-ALU-D60-7076-T6:

• Scan again from WHUB-RE-M2-ALU-SLV :

Example: with batches.

• Scan of LOTL/00000003, the item’s batch barcode: BAT-LI-12AH-36V-CNA,
• Scan of EB00046, the coderef of LOTL/00000003.

Fill fields with barcode values #

Define a field to be filled for each prefix.

Example:

Complete the note: EXPRESS DELIVERY PLEASE.

$MDF-MRL-EXPRESS DELIVERY PLEASE

Example:

Complete the weight field: 45 kg (the weight of the item).

Other barcode processing functions #

A set of document manipulation functions is defined. Simply create a barcode and the operator will use this function.

GO, jump to a module #

$-GO-XXX, XXX being the barcode “initials” defined in ioi Scanning parameter.

$-GO-XXX-YYYY, function identical to the previous one, but with additional positioning on the document.

For security reasons, the system will ask you to save your document in the event of a jump:

NEW, create a document #

$-NEW.

SAVE, save a document #

$-SAVE.

CANCEL, cancel local changes #

$-CANCEL.

STA-99, change document status #

$-STA-99.

Example: Deliver a shipment.

The system checks the possibility of performing the action.

UST-99 Change document user status #

$-UST-99.

Example: mark delivery as Delivery to be rechecked (4).

It is essential to define user statuses in the system for the module in question.
