Export to XLSX format

Here we present the functionality of exporting reports in XLSX format.

In the report designer, you will find certain options that allow you to modify how the report will be exported to XLSX format and the button to generate the export.

Export from the report designer #

The XLSX export button is available in Preview display mode directly in the report designer.

This button allows you to generate an XLSX file with the content from the Preview mode.

→ The file will be located in the downloads folder of the web browser.

“Spreadsheet” export options #

In the report designer, when in Layout display mode and depending on the type of object that is currently focused, you will find certain options to control how the object will be exported to XLSX format.

Definition of export options #

  • Hide

Hide the object during export, this object will not be included in the export.

Astuce

For example, use this to avoid exporting images.

Fixed column

By default, this option is empty, meaning the export will start from the first column.

Astuce

Use this if you want to fix the first x columns without filling them.

Colspan

If you want a cell to span multiple columns, you can use the Colspan option and set the number of columns to span.

Add empty row below

Allows generating an empty row below the exported object.

Text wrap

Allows wrapping the text so it can appear on multiple lines in a cell.

Configuring report export in Silicon ioi #

To export the content of a report in XLSX format from Silicon ioi, it is necessary to configure the report so it can be exported in this format.

In the report definition, specify the output format as Excel (XLSX), set a filename, and a destination “Download”.

Astuce

Use variables to name the files such as _{system.date}, _{system.user}, …

With this configuration, the Export to xlsx button will be available when selecting the report for printing.

The report export in XLSX format will be available in the web browser’s downloads folder.

Allow choosing PDF or XLSX export #

It is possible to configure a report so it can be exported both as PDF and, on demand, as XLSX.

This avoids having to configure the same report twice, once for PDF export and once for XLSX export.

For this option, it is necessary to configure the report format as PDF, but checking the box Can export to Excel will enable the ability to export to XLSX on demand.

When selecting the report to generate, if the user selects Export to xlsx the report will be exported in XLSX, and if they simply select Print, they will get the report preview and the possibility to export it as PDF.

The exported XLSX file will keep the filename specified in the Filename field of the report configuration.
